Deputy Manager

Marcia Davies

Marcia Davies is the Deputy Manager/Clinical Lead Nurse and is R.G.N. 1 qualified and has been employed at Thomas Gabrielle Nursing Home since 1997. Marcia began her nursing career in 1991, she trained for 3 years at Nevill Hall Hospital and once qualified worked 3 months in care of the elderly at St Woolos Hospital before joining the Princess Mary’s Royal Air Force Nursing service. Marcia worked 5 years with the Royal Air Force in acute medicine caring for both civilian and military personnel.

Marcia has extensive professional qualifications and is committed to undertake her Registered Managers Award Level 4. Marcia has a strong commitment to self development and care of the older person, quality developments, staff training and compliance with the Care Standards Act 2000.

Training & Development Officer

Gaynor Evans

Gaynor Evans is the Training & Development Officer. Gaynor co-ordinates the training & development activities for all homes and is based at Thomas Gabrielle where she has a dedicated training room and media equipment. Gaynor has over 17 years experience of developing and delivering training programmes to staff & designing & developing monitoring & auditing systems and quality assurance initiatives.

Qualified Nursing Staff (days/nights)

The Home currently employs Registered nursing staff throughout the day and night providing 24 hour Nursing Cover.

Senior Care Staff (days)

The Home currently employs 3 Senior Care Staff who all have the relevant knowledge and experience to carry out their role effectively and efficiently. All staff hold NVQ Level 2 and are currently working towards obtaining or have already achieved their NVQ Level 3.

Care Assistants (days/nights)

The Home currently employs 36 Care Staff who all have relevant skills, knowledge and training to carry out their roles as care assistants effectively and efficiently:-

  • 28 Care Assistants hold/working towards NVQ Level 2 (Care)
  • 6 Care Assistant holds/working towards NVQ Level 3 (Care)

The Owners/Managers are currently actively seeking funding for more Care Staff to achieve NVQ status.

Care Assistants (nights)

The Home employs care staff to work nights, all of whom have the relevant skills, knowledge and training to carry out their roles as care assistants effectively and efficiently.

  • All Night Care Assistants hold/working towards NVQ Level 2 (Care)

Activities Co-ordinator

The Home currently employs 1 activities co-ordinator who is available at the home Monday to Friday to carry out various activities to suit all client needs, is 1st aid trained and also holds NVQ Level 2 in Care.

Domestic Staff/Laundry Staff

The Home currently employs 7 domestic/laundry staff, working mornings and evenings to meet the homes needs.

Catering Staff

The Home employs a Kitchen Manager who along with 2 cooks prepare the day to day menu’s at the home. At least one cook works each day and all cooks have attained Food Hygiene Certificates and are currently in the process of registering to gain their HACCP qualifications and NVQ level 2 in catering.

The Home also employs 3 kitchen assistants by day to support the cooks and 3 kitchen assistants for tea time requirements of our clients. All have attained their Food Hygiene Certificates.

Maintenance Person

The Home employs Anthony Virgo, who is also Gwyneth’s son, as the full time Maintenance Person to carry out maintenance within the Home. Anthony has been employed in the home since 2011 and has previous experience of all types of maintenance work. Anthony also carries out any remedial work at TGEMI at the moment but this is limited due to the age of the building.

Specialist’s maintenance is purchased from outside qualified Businesses as required.

Administration

Thomas Gabrielle has a part time administrator to assist with the daily clerical duties at the home.
